7 Habits of Highly Disengaged Employees

7 Habits of Highly Disengaged Employees

What are the 7 habits of highly disengaged employees? (our previous blog post about the same topic) Here is the list of 7 habits of disengaged employees. We are focused on the most obvious point in this blog post.

Absenteeism

The first of the habits of highly disengaged employees is absenteeism. We can call it also lack attendance to work, which often shows itself in the following ways:

  • An employee who takes too many vacation days or takes them too often
  • An employee who abuses sick time
  • An employee whose absence from work is “covered up” by other workers.
  • The employee has a pattern of tardiness and absences without a reasonable explanation.
  • The employee consistently arrives late for work, is never on time, and disregards the bare minimum of required hours worked.

Lack of Productivity – 7 Habits of Highly Disengaged Employees

While engaged employee put all their effort and creativity to work disengaged employees do the exact opposite. 7 habits of disengaged employees contain a lack of productivity. The key elements of productivity are attention and creativity. If an employee is disengaged they lack these key elements by nature.

Rudeness

Every single one of us is fully capable of kindness, or at least of trying to be nice according to societal norms. So, why are some of us (as seen by others outside ourselves) so nasty and disrespectful? Like other so-called negative qualities like anger, rudeness may have formerly been useful, at least in certain contexts. But it is one of the 7 habits of highly disengaged employees because it is intolerable at work.

Missed Deadlines- 7 Habits of Highly Disengaged Employees

7 habits of highly disengaged employees have deadlines in them. Following necessary deadlines is important for business and disengaged employees might miss deadlines more than engaged employees. It is not a surprise that if an employee is disengaged they also don’t care for the deadlines. If an employee keeps missing deadlines you can suspect that this employee is disengaged.

Lack of Flexibility

An employee should be present during work hours. But in the meanwhile, plans can change and the time of a meeting might get rescheduled. Engaged employees adapt themselves to these tiny changes with pleasure. One of the habits of highly disengaged employees is lacking flexibility because disengaged employees don’t have spare time for their work.

Low Quality of Work

After all this time… Work quality suffers when an employee is disinterested in their job. If you want to make anything worthwhile, you need to either do it for a long period or put in a lot of work. Disinterest in one’s job is reflected in the quality of their production.

Lacking Communication

Are you getting no responses from your employees? One of the most noticeable traits of unmotivated workers is a failure to communicate. As such, we’ve included it among these habits of highly disengaged employees. The term “communication” encompasses a broad range of methods for conveying ideas and information. Disengaged workers are characterized by their inability to identify a solution to a problem or by a lack of openness in their communications.
